And Thoughts On These Important Days With Her
This summer with Emily has been so much fun! Last summer was amazing of course, but we struggled a lot with breastfeeding the first couple of months. Now Emily is walking and always on the go! She absolutely loves the water, as long as it's not too cold, so pool days are her favorite! I am so glad that I decided to get my camera out for this! Cell phone pictures can only do so much, but these photos take me right back to that day with her.
These days are fleeting and time is going so quickly with her. It's so important to document this time because I can never get it back. I would encourage you to get out your cameras or invest in a photographer to document some of your children's favorite activities or to grab some family portraits of this season of your life! I know it can be stressful to get everyone together, but it's always so worth it and years later you won't remember the stress of getting ready for pictures, you will just be so thankful you have them! In a blink things will change, your kids will grow into another milestone or your family dynamics will change.
At the same time, there's also a balance between documenting and being fully present. Grab a few pictures and then put your camera (or phone) away and just enjoy the moment. Time goes slower when we allow ourselves to not be distracted with other things. Currently, I'm in a season of learning a difficult lesson to focus more on family and less on social media. (Difficult because social media can be so addicting!) I don't always do a great job of this, but I'm trying hard to make a better effort. I want Emily to look up from playing and see my face and be able to look me in the EYES and not see the back of my phone. I want her to know that she is more important to me than what is on my phone. I want to be able to remember these amazing days with her. Maybe this weekend we can all unplug a little and see if we aren't better for it? I hope you have a great weekend loving on your family and friends! :)
